Mapping and GIS Analysis

Mapping and GIS Analysis

At Duck Creek, we utilize state of the art mapping techniques such as 3-D Stereo Digital Mapping from high resolution aerial photographs. Feature data collection from 3-D digital stereo models increases accuracy over traditional 2-D ortho-rectified images. 3-D stereo imagery paired with a bare terrain LiDAR model creates an unique GIS platform for superior interpretability of surface objects. We also provide linear referencing services for creating routed road and stream layers that are easily linked to event tables in a geodatabase. Our GIS shop is powered by ESRI's ArcGIS-ArcInfo with several important extensions such as Spatial Analyst, 3-D Analyst, and PurView.

Aquatic and Terrestrial Ecology

Duck Creek offers a wide array of ecological services to our clients. We have the versatility and expertise to perform aquatic habitat surveys, riparian and rangeland inventories, rare and endangered species inventory and monitoring, environmental assessments, watershed analyses, biological assessments and habitat conservation plans. Given a study area or question of interest, we provide project design, including sampling protocols, database design, and analytical methods. Field data are collected in-house by experienced surveyors and are integrated with other available information resources. Data are analyzed and interpreted by staff ecologists, and findings and recommendations are effectively communicated through both written reports and public presentations.

Forestry

We offer a comprehensive range of forestry services to help landowners make decisions which fulfill their objectives (financial, forest health, and esthetic) and comply with local, state, and federal laws. We remain attentive to current industry trends, market climates, and complex legal requirements. We appraise timber and timberland including mixed timber and agricultural properties for acquisitions, depositions, estate planning, insurance, taxation, and fair-market value determination. We provide economic analyses to accompany appraisals, as well as for strategic planning, silvicultural prescriptions, harvest scheduling, loan servicing, and capitalization. Our staff includes a USPAP certified General Appraiser. We assist landowners with management practices by defining and prioritizing goals through site-specific prescriptions and management plans. We also design, install, and maintain timber inventories; perform harvest operation planning and layout; provide forest practice permitting; log marketing; and administer the implementation of silvicultural prescriptions, fire and fuels reduction activities, road construction, and timber harvesting operations.
